About to leave for D.C. for a couple of weeks of holiday, but before I leave, here’s a few comments on the conference that just ended: Social Media and the Transformation of Public Space in Amsterdam.
What a great event. Not only it was cheap and well organized, it also gathered some of the best scholars in media and communications, some of who I cite constantly. José Van Dijck (what a pleasure), Lance Bennett, Michael Schudson, Alfred Hermida, Axel Bruns, Costera Meijer, Mark Deuze. All approachable and friendly to the beginners.
I presented a paper on the gamification of social media…and I must admit I need to up my game…both presenting and making a clearer argument. We move forward. Next stop, SCOS.
