Today is the first day of my employment at Karlstad University as a PhD candidate. It’s kind of weird for several reasons. First, I am still on vacation in Barcelona, and the notion of starting a new job from afar is unconventional to me (to say the least). Second, I never would have thought I would be taking the steps to completing a PhD degree, nor I would be teaching, or anything like that.
But I guess that after some years as a web designer and developer, the opportunity to pursue an academic career is quite appealing. Being paid to read and write? Here I come!
